Under current Thai law only Thai companies can hold
registrations for pharmaceuticals (both prescription and OTC),
medical devices, food supplements, veterinary products, and
food. To form a Thai company the majority shareholding must be
in Thai hands, except for US owned companies where this rule
does not apply. Moreover, registrations cannot be transferred
unless the Thai company holding the registration gives their
written consent.
Therefore, foreign companies planning to sell their
pharmaceutical or food product in Thailand have to find a Thai
partner to hold the registrations for them.
Up to now companies wishing to sell products in Thailand needed
teamed up with a distribution company. The distribution company
became the license holder. It occurred in the past that when the
product owner wanted to change distributors the distributors
refused or delayed to transfer the license causing sever loss of
business and opportunities.
With IntegraMed Asia as the license holder the product owner has
the luxury of changing distributors easily giving freedom and
flexibility to appoint the best suited partner. As IntegraMed
Asia only imports the product and levies a fee on imports,
IntegraMed Asia’s sole interest is a strong sales performance
disregarding of who the distributor is, which is congruent with
the product owner’s goals. IntegraMed Asia furthermore
guarantees the product owner the smooth transfer of the license
once they set up their own operation in Thailand.
This is a unique solution for new and established businesses in
Thailand. It does not bind the product owner to one distributor
for better or worse. It gives the product owner the upper hand
in negotiations coupled with flexibility and freedom to the
change. |
